The father of the 21-year-old Spencer man who stole an ambulance at a Gardner hospital on Wednesday says he’s “heartbroken” as a judge has ordered his son to be sent to Bridgewater State Hospital for mental health treatment.“This was never what I expected to happen to my son,” Harrison Barjolo Sr., told reporters Thursday, less than 24 hours after his son, Harrison, initiated a police chase through multiple central Massachusetts towns in the stolen ambulance.Barjolo Sr. said his son, an IT student who plays on the Franklin Pierce University football team, began making delusional statements which spurred his parents to take him for a mental health evaluation at a local hospital recently.Judge Mark Goldstein, during a Thursday arraignment at Gardner District Court, ordered the younger Barjolo to be sent to Bridgewater State Hospital for mental health treatment for no more than 20 days.Goldstein also set a $25,000 cash bail, as recommended by Worcester Assistant District Attorney Adam ...MIAA Tournament Management Committee listens to new football proposal

The MIAA Football Committee took the first step in hopes of convincing the state it had a better playoff proposal.Football Committee chairman Jay Costa and Milton football coach Steve Dembowski joined in on the two-hour MIAA Tournament Management Committee meeting Thursday morning and laid out plans for a revamped football structure. Costa said the goal was to open some dialogue and create a sub-committee made up of football committee and TMC members to look at the proposal.“We are here to propose some modifications,” Costa said of the plan, which would go into effect for the 2025 season if accepted. “We’ve had the statewide system and after a few years of evaluation, we feel there can be some tweaks to it. A U.S. Marine from Orange County has admitted to his role in a 2022 attack at a Planned Parenthood in which he and another man threw a Molotov cocktail at a clinic under the cover of night. He also admitted to planning more attacks at other various sites in Southern California.Chance Brannon, 24, of San Juan Capistrano, pleaded guilty to conspiracy, destruction of property and targeting a reproductive health services facility - a violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. Toronto police have laid additional charges in a hate-motivated mischief investigation after the Indigo store at Bay Street and Bloor Street West was vandalized with red paint and posters.In total 11 people were arrested in connection to the incident on the morning Friday, November 10, 2023. CALGARY — The Canada Energy Regulator has approved preliminary interim tolls for the expanded Trans Mountain pipeline.The approval will enable Trans Mountain Corp. to begin charging oil shippers once the pipeline expansion, which is still under construction, becomes operational early next year.The newly approved benchmark fixed toll of $10.88 per barrel means oil companies will be paying nearly twice the amount that Trans Mountain had previously estimated back in 2017.The company applied to increase the tolls in an effort to recoup some of its costs after the pipeline expansion project’s construction costs spiralled to $30.9 billion from a 2017 estimate of $7.4 billion.The regulator says its preliminary decision is intended to ensure a tolling structure is in place in time for the pipeline’s start-up.
